To make your goals more manageable, break each milestone down into chunks that are easy to understand. Each goal will require a number of elements to get you to where you want to be. The more you break things down into simple steps, the more achievable your projects become (they also look less daunting!).

Once you have outlined your plan, you will have to get your shoulder to the grindstone. In order to get your business off the ground, you will have to work harder than most, at first. That means really putting in the hours. As long as your business ends up being fairly successful, you will be able to scale back your workload over time, but for now, it may mean longer hours in the office.

Many small businesses make the mistake of not using social media – this could be one of your greatest allies in growing your business and achieving your goals. As you build an audience and following, you can brand yourself more widely, as well as encourage traffic to your website. Stick to a couple of social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, as you don’t want to spread yourself too thinly – choose whatever works best for your company.
